***South Korea has struck first, with a run scoring double by catcher Hong, putting SK up 1-0 in the top of the 4th inning.
***South Korea has scored again as J.B. Lee has doubled in another run off Taiwan's 2nd pitcher Y.J. Lin in the 5th inning.
***7th inning stretch......close ball game....anyone else think that the 65 pitch limit rule SUCKS???
***9th inning rally falls short....Our boys played a good game, hit against some MLB pitchers, E.Y. Lin showed that he is ready to play overseas, but final score - South Korea 2 Taiwan 0

This is the first time I saw any of these young players and, depite the loss, I felt quite encouraged. Our kids are going to be alright in the future--the potential is obvious their. When the Hus and the Chengs further develop their hitting Taiwan will be a formidable opponent.
ReplyDeleteThe last batter in the game for Taiwan is the player that really caught my eye--great frame and good bat speed, and only an amateur. He's going to be a good one.
This is the opportunity of a lifetime for the kids in the minors. For guys like Hu and Chen, it's not everday that you get to face major league quality pitching. Hu and Chen faced 4 ML pitchers last night and held their own. They'll probably face 3 or 4 more ML quality pitchers on early Sat. morning as well. You gotta love the defensive gems that both Hu and Chen turned in last night.
ReplyDeleteI think the kid you're alluding to is Chan, the pinch-hitting amateur OF. I saw him play this summer; he's solid in all areas - defense, speed, contact hitter, etc. But he was def. overshadowed by Kuo-Hui Lo's potent bat when they were here in So Cal.
