At the WPT, Taiwan beat Japan 3-1 for its first win in the tourney. Box Leading the way for Taiwan were 3 individuals:
1)SP Ching-Ming Wang - picked up the win after allowing 1 run on 5 hits over 7 IP - he also had 6 K's.
2)RF Chih-Yao Chan was 1-3 with a walk, a HR, and a RBI. This kid has been a NT member regular and was the leading hitter in the 2007 Spring League Tournament (in Taiwan's senior circuit) - he hit .446 in 83 AB's.
3)DH Yi-Chuan Lin supplied the rest of the offense as he was 2-4 with a HR and 2 RBI's. In the 2007 Spring League Tournament - Lin was the offensive MVP - with the 2nd highest BA: .436, the most HR's: 6, and the most RBI's:26 in 94 AB's. Compare Chan and Lin's numbers to CH Wen (the Cubs signee) from that tourney.
Taiwan will resume action and play the US tomorrow.
NPB:
The Tigers won 7-0. Lin was 1-4. Box
The Fighters lost 18-3. Yang was 0-3 with 3 K's. Box
CPBL:
Cobras 7 - Bears 3: Hsien-Chih Chang (game MVP) picked up win #8 for the Cobras after allowing 3 runs on 5 hits over 7 IP. He received run support from Shih-Yang Deng, who hit HR #5 and CH Hsieh who was 2-5 with a double and 2 RBI's. For the Bears, both CFC and CS Lin were 0-3 with a walk. Chih-Wei Shih drove in all 3 runs for the Bears - he was 2-4 with a double.
Whales 9 - Bulls 4: Che-Yi Su picked up win #2 and was selected game MVP after allowing 1 run on 6 hits over 6 IP. For the Whales: Chun-Lin Ji was 4-5 with a triple and 3 runs scored while Jen-Chieh Hsu was 2-5 with 2 RBI's. Tarzan was 1-3 with 2 walk for da Bulls.

it's nice to see that chan and lin are getting better at their game. they were pretty horrible in last years intercontinental cup.
