Reds Sign Po-Cheng Chi......

The Cincinnati Reds signed their third player from Taiwan (TK Chiu, YW Kuo), this time inking RHP Po-Cheng Chi. The sidearmer (tops out at 90 mph) received ~ $100 K signing bonus. Chi throws a slider, changeup, sinker, and split-finger fb.

Chi represented the country during the 2008 Palomino World Series. Po was linked to the Reds earlier in the year (although the article did link his teammate Hung with the wrong team; Hung ended up signing with the Pirates and not the Twins).

*The final field of 16 kicks off today (6th) in the Wood Bat HS Tourney.

*Wei-Chu Lin received a paycut from the Tigers (31 M yen) while Wei-Yin Chen joins the millionaire's club with his rather hefty raise (110 M yen) from the Dragons. Hawks nigun IF Tu-Hsuan Lee's salary will remain the same (5.2 M yen).

Chen will be represented by Alan Nero (Octagon) should he pursue a MLB career.

*Yi-Cheng Wang had his press announcement regarding his 3 year deal with the BayStars. There was no sign of Wen-Hao Cheng, leading one to assume that he didn't come to terms with the BayStars.

*Sinon Bulls IF Yi-Chuan Lin cleaned house at the CPBL annual awards ceremony. Not only did he win ROY honors but he became the third rookie in league history to also win league MVP honors (RHP En-Yu Lin last doubled up in 2005; P Chun-Yang Tsao first accomplished the feat in '99). He also won the RBI crown, a gold glove at 1B, and a best 9+DH award (at 1B). Lin earned 330 K NT (~$10,300 USD) in bonuses for his numerous postseason awards.

Bears sluggers CS Lin and CFC also earned best 9+DH awards at their respective positions (SS and DH).

*CJ Lo to compete for a big league bullpen spot next year.
