More on CT NT game vs. Perth

During last night's 6-4 loss to the Perth Heat, starting pitcher Sung-Wei Tseng was impressive, going 6 innings and only giving up 1 earned run. The following pitchers, Chi-Hung Cheng and Chia-An Huang struggled and gave up the lead back to Perth. Cheng went 1.1 innings and gave up 3 runs, while Huang only pitched 0.2 innings. Closer Wei-Ming Chu did give up an earned run in the last inning, but did manage to strike out the side. Hitting stars for CT were: Tai-Shan Chang, Yung-Chi Chen, and Ching-Lung Hu.

For tonight's game against Perth, Coach Lin plans on starting Ying-Feng Tsai, followed by Chia-An Huang, Wei-Ming Chu, and Po-Hsuan Keng.

Don't know much about the skill level of Australian club teams, but it does concern me to see our national team (albeit a stripped down version) lose to a non-pro team. At least the team came back in the second game to win 4-3 in 12 innings. It'll certainly be interesting to see how this team fairs against the Australian national team. Any idea whether the Aussie team will be at full force or partially staffed (like the CT team)?

The Australian NT is also in the process of auditioning a number of players to determine who will make the final WBC roster.

Taiwan, without it's big guns and arms, is at risk for being exposed in this tournament.

I got a note in the Baseball America Prospect Reports that Chia-an Huang went two and two-thirds innings, walking two and striking out one.

Hey J,
Yea, Huang pitched against the Australian NT on 2/4/06 in middle relief. He gave up 0 hits and 0 run as well.
