Saturday Happenings.....

Ying-Chieh Lin figured in another no-decision in the Eagles loss to the Lotte Marines - the NPB defending champs. Lin pitched 5.1 innings and gave up 2 earned runs on 4 hits. Lin has held his own against 2 of the better offensive ball clubs in Japan - the Hawks and Marines. Hopefully, his team can start supporting him with more offense.

In the US, Yung-Chi Chen had a magnificent 2006 debut for the IE 66ers. Chen went 4-5 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI's, had a stolen base, and assisted in 2 double plays. What a night for Chen, who surprisingly played at 2B tonight.

***Update: Thanks J for getting me up to speed on Wu's performance.

Wu also had his debut tonight. Box Score

Wu had a nice little performance in Wisconsin as well, 2-for-4 with three RBIs in a 6-3 victory, though he got thrown out trying to stretch a single into a double.

First hit was a RBI single, and from then on, you could hear the crowd cheering "Wuuuuuuuuu!" whenever he came to plate.

Whew,
It's hard to believe that Wu has finally resurfaced and actually done something at the plate! He was out with an injury last year, right?

Yeah, he was caught in an ugly collision at the plate where the runner knocked him over and ended up dislocating his shoulder.

They always liked his bat, but his catching has been suspect.
