KH Lo's 2-run Shot:

Missed this from a while back - Hong-Wen Chen was promoted from Peoria to the Daytona Cubs (Hi A ball) on July 1st. He's done well so far: 2-0, 3.07 ERA (although he's also given up 7 HR's in 8 games).

PONY:
Taiwan's first game at the Pony League World Series is about to get underway. Click here to listen to the game.
Game Recap from WPJA.com:
"No Hitter Opens Series!
Chiang Lee Wei and Hu Chih Wei combined on a five-inning no-hitter as Chinese Taipei topped Davenport, IA, 11-0. This was the 17th no-hitter in PONY World Series history. The Asia-Pacific champions scored in four of their five at-bats, including six runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game. Chu Li Jen stroked a three-run homer off the top of the fence in right to invoke the 10-run rule. Hsu Hao Feng also had two rbi."

In San Jose, CA (Palomino World Series), the boys moved to 2-0 by beating Ingalls Park 10-5 on Saturday.

In the Bronco World Series, Taiwan remained undefeated as it blanked Chambersburg, PA 10-0.

I dream of a day when Taiwan can put its best team on the field (WBC perhaps?) In my opinion, that would include (I'll probably butcher some names):

P Chien-Ming Wang
P Hong-Chi Kuo
P En-Yu Lin
P Wei-Ying Chen
P Chin-Hui Tsao
P Wei-Luan Pan

1B Cheng-Ming Peng
2B Yung-Chi Chen
3B Tai-Shang Chang
SS Chin-Lung Hu
OF Wei-Chu Lin
OF Che-Hsuang Lin
OF Kuo-Hui Lo
C Not sure we have anyone really spectacular here
DH Chin-Feng Chen

Taiwan may not have the depth of some other baseball powers, but I think these players can win against anyone on any given day.

Kuo got the L and a BS as he gave up 2 runs(none earned) against San Fran. His ERA is 1.75. I wonder how he gave up 2 runs(none earned) as a closer.

I am an ESL teacher in Milpitas, CA. Many of my students are Taiwanese, so I posted some picture from Sunday's and Monday's game with a short story in simple English. http://www.senioresl.com/2008/08/chinese-taipei-in-pony-world-series.html. I really enjoyed watching CT and hope to see them again. Thanks!

Nice list Stevo....In the near future, I'd possibly move Tarzan away from 3B and have him DH - perhaps YC Chen or CS Yang could play the hot corner. CH Chiang is no defensive whiz, but his bat makes him an enticing play at 2B.

Thanks for the updates on Kuo and the Palomino team in San Jose.

Jen, do you have any more pics of the team or players?
