MISC:
Interesting story on where baseball stands with Asian American kids - particularly in the Chinese/Taiwanese community. Doing a little research of my own, I live in a city that is predominantly Asian (mostly Chinese) - making up ~ 55% of the city's demographics. However, the local high school varsity baseball program features only 2 kids of Asian descent on the team. The sport of choice for most young Chinese/Taiwanese-American males is basketball.

haha in the news today they had a story about koreans claiming that they invented soy milk or whatever it's called.
they were claiming wang was korean a while ago too.
anyways the flaw in the article i guess is that the reporters probably didnt realize that the only nations that play baseball in asia are japan, korea and taiwan.
Hey the article is dead right. Im from brooklyn and i goto chinatown about once a week. The only place i see people playing baseball is columbus park but about a yr ago they replace half the cement baseball field with artificial turf for people to play soccer. I still see couple of kids playing catch but no more games.
Can't really blame these kids for not playing baseball. Even in brooklyn where me and 2 of my asian friends play baseball along with mostly white kids.
What a retarded story. Wang is Taiwanese and most people in Chinatown are Cantonese. Of course they don't care about him! They should interview people from Flushing or Taiwanese communities in New Jersey.
It's like asking why fans of Carlos Beltran don't emulate Manny Ramirez.
Doesn't exactly help when the author of this article is Chinese, just like the person who wrote the article for Time's 100. Absolute bs
