CT TANGSince 1999, 13 Major League organizations (Blue Jays, Braves, Cubs, Dodgers, Indians, Mariners, Phillies, Reds, Red Sox, Rockies, Twins, White Sox, and Yankees) have signed and developed Taiwanese prospects in their farm systems. The 14th ML team to join that list is the Detroit Tigers.
The first Taiwanese signing by a ML club for 2008 is OF Chao-Ting Tang. Tang, who has been profiled before, is a former HS teammate (San-Min HS) of Red Sox farmhands Chih-Hsien Chiang and Chih-Hsiang Huang. The 20 year old (DOB: 10/12/1987), who was on the 2005 junior NT, reportedly received a signing bonus in the area of ~ $40K to $60K with some incentives involved from the Tigers. *Updated*
