Wang pitches 6 solid innings of 1 run ball today. he walked 2 but also struck out 5 in his 6 innings of work. the one run came when ichiro singled and then stole 2nd and then stole 3rd and was singled in later that inning. Ichiro would later steal a 3rd time(this one on Joba Chamberlain). It may be that the new cather Molina(since Jorge is injured) is still trying to get accustomed to be the starting catcher for the yanks. Anyway, he is in line to get the W. Its the bottom of the 8th right now and its 3-1 yanks. Wang should get the W unless the Mariners can put up 2 to tie it in the top of the 9th.

An excerpt from the game recap. Wang got his 6th by the way.

Since Wang made his last start, on Sunday at Cleveland, no Yankees pitcher had been able to go at least six innings while allowing three runs or fewer. Wang drew attention to the mound with one out in the fifth inning for a potential problem on his pitching hand, calling catcher Jose Molina out to the mound, but he remained in the game.

Maybe this is why Wang left after 6 innings. He would have thrown 90 pitches going into the 7th so I figured he could have finished pitching 7 innings. Hope his hand is alright. Doesnt seem to be anything serious though considering it happened in beginning of the 5th and he finished both the 5th and 6th innings. Nice to see him striking out more batters lately. Last game he struck out 9 in 7 and today 5 in 6. Im more use to seeing him strike out 2 or 3 in about 7 to 8 innings of work. Lets hope he keeps on developing his strikeout pitches(the changeup and slider)so he can expand his repertoire and rely less heavily on his signature bowling ball sinker
