CMW got the proverbial monkey off his back with a dominating performance against the Indians. Wang threw 7 shutout innings, allowing only 4 hits while K'ing a season-high 9 (he also walked 2). He then handed the ball off to Joba Chamberlain and Mariano Rivera who helped to preserve the 1-0 win for the Yankees. Recap/Box
CL Hu is starting at 2B for the Dodgers today against the Rockies. He is currently 0-1 in the 3rd. HC Kuo will be pitching out of the bullpen for now.
CPBL:
Whales 4 - Bulls 3: Whales SP Yu-Chieh Shen picked up game MVP honors after winning his second game of the season (2-2 overall). Shen allowed 3 runs on 3 hits in 8 IP (5K's, 3BB's).
Supporting Shen's strong start were: 2B Yi-Min Wang who was 3-4 with a RBI/ C Yi-Wei Lee who was 1-3 with a double and a RBI/ DH Chun-Hsiung Lu was 1-3 with a RBI/ 3B Carlos Villalobos was 1-4 with a RBI.
Offensivley for the Bulls: DH Chien-Ming Chang was 0-3/ 1B Chung-Yi Huang was 1-4 with a double and a RBI/ 2B Chao-Hsing Cheng was 0-2 with 2 RBI's.

Reliever Chun-Nan Lai picked up his 5th win of the year (5-2) after throwing 2 scoreless/hitless innings (2K's, 1BB). Earning a ND for the T-Rex was starter Cory Bailey (5 IP, 2 ER, 6 H, 4 K's, 0 BB's). Also earning a ND for the Bears was starter Mike Johnson (7.1 IP, 3 R (1 ER), 10 H, 5 K's, 0 BB's).
Offensively for the T-Rex: SS Ming-Jen Kuo was 2-5 with 2 doubles and a RBI/ CF Yuan-Chia Chen was 1-5 with a RBI (and selected game MVP)/ 3B Napoleon Calzado was 2-5 with a RBI/ RF Chia-Hui Wu was 2-5 with a double and a RBI/ C Ko-Fan Chen was 1-4 with a double and a RBI/ LF Chih-Peng Chen was 1-3 with a RBI.

Wow, 9 Ks today. Seems like Wang slider was working well today eh. Glad he performed well against the Indians. I was nervous after what happened post season last year. Looks like he has been improving his slider alot. The last time I saw him pitch, his slider had some impressive break on it. Hopefully he can keep developing that and his changeup into consistent strikeout pitches so he can mix it up and not have to rely on the sinker too much. Because when his sinkers not on - it could be troublesome. Hu went 1-3 today with a run scored and a intentional walk. There is also an article on him on the Dodgers site right now about how Nomar Garciaparra is helping him out as he is a veteran and all. Terror, do you know why Kuo didnt start today? I thought he was supposed to pitch today. I guess Torre decided to start Loaiza at the last second. Im guessing Torre will start Kuo next time. He didnt decide to have him pitch out of the bullpen from now on did he?

Historically, Kuo has always been better as a starter versus entering the game later as a reliever. I believe his ERA (prior to his start against the Reds) is a full run lower as a starter.
As for Torre's decision, he said it was because Kuo could warm up in the bullpen more quickly (with Loaiza starting). Not a great explanation, but I think Kuo's last outing played a big part in Torre's decision.
yeah, thats why I really want Kuo starting opposed to relieving. His elbow(after 4 surgeries) isnt fit for relieving. Im sure Torre will take that into account. My guess is that Kuo will start next week and Loaiza the next(unless Kuo has an awesome game or something). Right now I think they are just trying to test both pitchers out and give them both opportunities and see which one is more consistent. They even considered putting in Park Chan Ho at the 5 for a while. Dont know if they are still trying to. Looks like Kuo and Loaiza will be splitting time as of right now.
